Hawker Tempest GBP £84.95 inc VAT

First flown on September 2nd 1942.The Hawker Tempest was a
direct result of the quest for superior speed against the Luftwaffe fighters. The
flight trials were not dissappointing. The prototype exceeded 477mph in level
flight making it the fastest propeller driven fighter in the world.
On June the 8th 1944,the Tempests met the enemy in combat for the first time
destroying three Bf 109G fighters with no loss to themselves.
The Tempest went on to be a supreme fighter at low to medium levels, and being
able to overhaul even the later long nosed Focke Wulf, became the Luftwaffe`s
most feared opponent.
