A FANTASTIC 61” SPAN CLASSIC AVAILABLE AS A SUPERB CNC CUT KIT

Comment from the designer Richard Wills

For some time now I have been listening to our customers ideas on what they would like in the future, and which way our kits are going. Also feedback from magazine reviews (which thankfully has always been good), has helped me to build up a useful picture.

One thing that has become quite apparent is that newcomers whilst still learning to fly with their trainers are nearly always looking for a second model which is scale. So I thought that it would be nice to create a scale Warbird that flew very slowly giving the pilot as much confidence as possible.
I also wanted to make it look as realistic as possible and hope that I have achieved this goal.I decided to make the hurricane as large as possible to achieve maximum landing speeds and because my designs are always light this meant the 61” Hurricane weighs only 7lbs with retracts. I was also keen to make it fly well on a 52 four stoke as this is popular engine size. My own prototype has been flying for some time now and fulfills all the criteria mentioned.

To see it trundle by with by at a fast jog with the wheels up and canopy slid back is sheer delight.
With “the taps wide open”, she’ll loop and roll just like the real thing.
Go on, treat yourself to a real plane, you’ll be the envy of your pals, with their plastic ARTF’s! (and it will be built properly).

WARBIRDS HURRICANE SPECIFICATION:
The hurricane is built around the usual box fuselage with foam top decks.
The true scale section of the fuselage is then created by six small riblets glued to the sides and a small section of balsa sheet, combined with the addition of stringers (merely cosmetic).
The wing is of a very simple foam veneer, three piece layout, with ailerons already routed out.
Washout has been cut into each panel and the tips made of soft block are included. The tricky forward wing fairings are provided in vac formed plastic, as is the scoop mouth, canopy and cowl.
Also included are plastic moulds for the complicated exhaust stacks.
A hardware pack including fixed undercarriage is included with each kit.
A complete set of computer cut plywood and balsa parts make up the full compliment.
